Four Decades of Shaping Young Minds: Ador’s Commitment to Education in Birgaon

At Ador Welding, we believe that a nation’s progress rests on the strength of its classrooms. Schools are more than centres of learning; they are the foundation of aspirations and the stepping stones to brighter futures. Yet, despite government efforts, public education continues to face challenges in infrastructure, quality of learning and access to technology. Recognising this, Ador made education a cornerstone of its CSR strategy, not as charity, but as a shared responsibility. By equipping schools with smart classrooms, electricity, internet access and proper sanitation facilities, we work closely with educators and communities to remove barriers that stand between children and their right to learn.

When Ador established its factory on the outskirts of Birgaon in 1962, the region began its industrial journey. However, quality education for local children lagged. Recognising this, Ador (then Advani Oerlikon) laid the foundation for a co-educational school in 1981. A year later, the school was formally handed over to the government in a ceremony graced by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and the district collector. Since then, the school has grown into the Advani Oerlikon Government Higher Secondary School, educating nearly 2,500 students annually and becoming one of the most sought-after public schools in Chhattisgarh.

Over the years, Ador has continuously improved the school environment. Benches were refurbished, greenboards installed and classrooms equipped with energy-efficient lighting and fans to create a comfortable learning space. Safe drinking water and upgraded sanitation facilities, especially for girls, were provided, along with renovated dining areas and staff rooms. These interventions go beyond infrastructure; they nurture a culture of care where every child feels valued and inspired to learn.

As digital literacy became crucial, Ador established a computer lab, providing students with access to tools rarely available in government schools. Science laboratories were also upgraded, enabling hands-on experiments that turn theory into experience. Initiatives like these ignite curiosity and prepare students for lifelong learning. Shivani Yadav, a Class XII student, shares, “Before our computer lab was set up, I had never seen a computer up close, but today, I use it comfortably. It has been a great enabler in preparing me for competitive exams.”

Education is driven by people, not just buildings. Ador supports teaching and non-teaching staff who are not on the government payroll, ensuring stability that sustains quality education every day. Renovated staff rooms and proper facilities empower educators to perform their best, creating a positive impact on students’ learning.

Recognising excellence is key to inspiring ambition. Through the Ador Meritorious Award, students are rewarded for academic achievements, while teachers are acknowledged for their dedication. In 2025, Kirti Yadav secured the 9th rank in the Chhattisgarh State Higher Secondary Certificate Examination, the school’s first top-10 entry in 44 years, demonstrating what sustained support can achieve.

Education at Birgaon goes beyond textbooks. Ador is committed to building sports infrastructure and providing trained staff to boost motivation and reduce dropout rates. Life-ready skills are fostered through vocational training, career counselling, and online learning opportunities. Classrooms are upgraded to meet the demands of a digital world, ensuring students are equipped to thrive academically, socially, and professionally.

The Advani Oerlikon Government Higher Secondary School stands as living proof of what a long-term public-private partnership can achieve. From its foundation stone in 1982 to today, Ador’s sustained commitment has strengthened not only classrooms but communities. By nurturing young minds, we are shaping the future of India through every child we empower.
